Hi! I’m Joi.
I believe in the power of connection, community, and service!
I’m Joi Turner, a passionate change agent with over 20 years of experience serving youth, families, and communities. My work has always centered around creating opportunities for young people to thrive—whether through education, mentorship, or community engagement. I’m a firm believer that lasting change happens when we uplift voices, build relationships, and lead with equity at the core.
Growing up in a military family, I moved often and experienced a wide range of schools, cities, and cultures. Those experiences shaped my ability to adapt, listen, and connect with people from all walks of life. They also helped build my deep appreciation for community and belonging. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Child Development and Family Relations from Kentucky State University, and went on to receive my Master’s in School Counseling from Phillips Graduate Institute in Los Angeles—choices that aligned perfectly with my desire to help young people discover their potential.
My professional journey has taken me to Los Angeles, New York, and Atlanta, working with impactful organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles, the Kayne-Eras Center, the NYC Department of Education, and the Urban League of Greater Atlanta. Currently, I serve as the Director of Volunteer Partnerships and Experience at Junior Achievement of Georgia, where I build relationships with corporate and community partners to give students real-world exposure and support that prepares them for life beyond the classroom.
Beyond my 9–5, I’m deeply rooted in community service. I serve on the board of the I AM ARTS Foundation, and I’m actively involved with the Atlanta Airport Rotary Club, the College Park Women’s Club, and as a proud Girl Scouts troop leader. I also channel my creative side into Lovejoi Candle—my small candle business that brings a little peace and sensory escape into people’s lives.
I live in Atlanta with my wonderful husband, Lincoln, and our fun, energetic twins, Miles and Quinn. Whether I’m mentoring students, making candles, or hosting a volunteer event, I lead with intention, heart, and a genuine desire to make a difference.
